The program

Football, taught the way it should be taught.

Bexley Youth Football teaches boys in 3rd through 6th grade the fundamentals of tackle football. It’s a program that gets passed down — coaches on today’s sideline played in it as kids.

A Lions ball carrier breaks through a tackle on an overcast afternoon.

Straight from our parents meeting

What we are, and what we are not

We are not putting kids directly from the 6th grade into the NFL. A BYF athlete’s participation isn’t about us, our sports past, or our visions of sports futures — it’s about them, and they are learning to love this game.

We will ask a lot of the players — and we reward louder than we lecture. Attitude and effort are the only things no outside entity can strip from us, so the takes-no-talent parts of the game get celebrated as loudly as in-game achievements. Every kid gets their moment.

And we aren’t just about the “W.” We’re the start of the pipeline: our job is to build the player and build the program, and to send athletes up to the middle school and high school ready — 27 of them moved up last year alone.

The motto

Family. Grit. Win.

FGW is new this year, and it’s bigger than us: the same pyramid now stands behind Bexley football at the youth, middle school, and high school levels — one program, from third grade to Friday nights. Family and grit are the base. Winning stands on top of them, not the other way around.

Family, Grit, Win — WIN at the peak with FAMILY and GRIT beneath it: how we treat ourselves, how we treat each other, how we practice, and how we prepare.
The FGW values, shared across Bexley football programs.

Who can play

Eligibility

Boys in 3rd through 6th grade. Placement is by grade, not age — the league applies age cutoffs that can move a player up a division, and our coaches will walk you through where your son fits.

You don’t have to live in Bexley. Neighboring communities — Eastmoor and others — are eligible through the league’s residency exemption, which we file for you. Email us and we’ll sort it out.
